What the labor card is
For mainland companies, every employee needs a work permit from the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE). The old plastic labor card is now digital — the permit is linked to your Emirates ID and can be shown from the MOHRE app. Free-zone employees are covered by their free zone authority instead; we handle both routes.
New labor card — how it works
- The company's quota and e-signature card are checked in the MOHRE system
- The job offer is issued and signed by the employee before entry or status change
- Work permit approval is issued, and the employment entry or status change follows
- The labor contract is registered with MOHRE and the digital labor card becomes active
Renewals and expiry
Work permits are renewed with the employment contract cycle. Late renewal accumulates fines against the company, so we track expiry dates and file renewals before the deadline. If an employee leaves, the permit must be cancelled properly — an uncancelled permit blocks future hires against the quota.
Checking your labor card status
You can check any application number or card status through MOHRE's site and app; if an application is stuck at approval, it is usually a document issue, a quota issue or a mismatch with immigration records. We diagnose exactly which and clear it.
